Liu Guangda
Was also called Xiaotian or Bohu as his poetic name. He was born in Shangqiu city of Henan province, and was graduated form Lu Xun Academy of Fine Art. Now he is the second-class national artist, member of Chinese Painting Artists Association, member of Henan Research Institute of Bird and Flower Painting, member of Henan Poster Academy, council member of Art Institute of Chinese Calligraphy, managing director of Research Institute of Chinese painting and Calligraphy and Seal, member of the Artists Association of Beijing East Art Museum. He was one of the First Session of 100 Outstanding Chinese Contemporary Artists.
His freehand brushwork of tiger painting is full of personality and developed a school of his own, which is acclaimed as vigorous strokes, lovely postures, unique style, and vivid grand-verve.
His paintings always bear the palms both at home and abroad. In 2002 he won 22 national awards and his paintings were selected to 33 albums issued nationally. His paintings have been collected by galleries and collectors of America, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia etc. In 1998 his solo exhibition of 100 Paintings of Tiger was held in Henan Province Art Gallery in Zhengzhou city and brought down the gallery. In 2001 he created a painting named Two Hundred Tigers in the size of 53 meter long and 0.88 meter high, which won the silver prize of 21st Century Masterpieces Show of Chinese Paintings.
