Wan Fung Art Gallery proudly presents to you, the “Idyllic Symphony ·Art of Lin Decai” from 10 -23 Oct in Hong Kong Wan Fung Art Gallery. The Exhibition features more than 30 pieces of paintings. The cocktail reception will start at 3pm on 10 Oct.

Colorful joy of life and unsophisticated beauty of nature is the main themes of his works. Though his artistic conception owes much to Sung dynasty flower-and-bird painters, Lin has incorporated the essence of both modern Chinese and Western arts which conform his unique painting expressions. Rich colors, elegant atmosphere and unusual composition are the common features of his flowers-and-birds.

Lin Decai


Male, born in 1948, is a native of Nanhai, Guangdong Province. He is a member of Chinese Arts & Crafts Association, member of Guangdong Artists Association, director of Guangzhou Artists Association, an artist of Guangzhou Art Gallery and appointed artist at the Guangzhou Painting Academy.

Lin specializes in flower-and-bird paintings. He always finds inspiration from nature and daily life. He has created a unique kind of flower-and-bird paintings marked by the rich, colorful and decorative style, different from the tradition. Lin has opened a new page for Chinese flower-and-bird painting and is highly acclaimed by the art circle.

He has been engaged in sculptural design and Chinese painting for a long time. His flower-and-bird paintings have been selected in many national and provincial art exhibitions and competitions. His representative painting “Good News to the Farmer’s House” was awarded Second Prize at Chinese Painting National Cup in 1988. “Spring Mud” was awarded Silver Medal at the Four Seasons Painting Exhibition. “Autumn Pond” gained the Third Prize at the First National Chinese Painting Exhibition. For many years, his works have been frequently exhibited in Japan, U.S., Canada, South Korea, Germany, Brazil, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau. He has held solo exhibitions in Taipei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Guangzhou and Beijing. In recent years, his paintings were selected in many auctions. His publications include “Album of Lin Decai” and “Flower-and-Bird Paintings by Lin Decai”. His biography has entered “Chinese Contemporary Art Circle Who’s Who”, “Dictionary of Chinese Artists”, etc.
