云峰画苑创办于1986年。北京云峰画苑位于天安门东侧南池子大街皇史宬内。皇史宬是世界上保存最完整、最古老的皇家档案馆，至今已有500年的历史，全石无梁建筑，红墙碧瓦，尽显皇家气派。现为全国重点文物保护单位。
皇史宬2000平米的院落、云峰画苑400平米的展厅、得天独厚的地理位置，成功地为国内外艺术家、各商业企业机构举办了数十个各种风格的艺术展览、文化交流活动，如：奥迪A8新款轿车新闻发布会；德国巴斯夫公司“BASF”新产品展示会；以色列外长西蒙·佩雷斯《创世纪》中文版首发式；来自荷兰的艺术展；摩凡陀手表发布会等等。
